ShieldDigest exists because comparison shopping is broken: rankings for sale, scores without receipts, reviews by people who never touched the product.

What we do differently

We test three categories deeply (VPNs, web hosting, online learning) and publish criterion-level scores we can defend. If we haven't tested it this quarter, we don't rank it.

How we make money

Some links are affiliate links; commissions fund the testing. They influence which buttons appear, never scores or rankings. See the full disclosure and methodology.

The team

Maya Chen, Lead Reviewer: Maya has reviewed consumer software and web services for nine years, previously leading testing at a major tech publication. She personally runs every speed benchmark and signs up for every service we review with unaffiliated accounts.

Daniel Okafor, Testing Lead & Fact-Checker: Daniel builds and maintains ShieldDigest's benchmarking harness, uptime monitors, speed-test automation, and support-response timers. Every factual claim on a review passes his verification before publish.
