Our verdict

Skillshare understands how creative skills are actually learned: by making things. Every class is built around a project, an illustration, a logo, a short film edit, that you complete and post to a community gallery where instructors and classmates respond. The teachers that anchor the catalog are working illustrators, designers, and filmmakers teaching the workflow they bill clients for, and the 30-90 minute class length fits real life.

It is confidently narrow. There are no certificates, negligible technical or academic content, and the open publishing model means quality outside the featured 'Originals' varies. Judge it as a creative gym membership rather than a credentials machine: at $165/year it's excellent for anyone building a creative practice, and wrong for anyone who needs a line on a resume.

Keep in mind: Annual billing renews in full and refunds are limited, calendar the renewal date during your trial.

What could improve

Skillshare FAQ

Does Skillshare offer certificates?
No, Skillshare deliberately skips certificates. The portfolio pieces you produce in project-based classes are the credential.
Is Skillshare good for beginners?
Very, beginner paths in drawing, design, and photography are its sweet spot, with short classes that get you producing work on day one.
Skillshare or Udemy for creative skills?
Skillshare for ongoing creative practice and community feedback; Udemy for a single deep course on a specific tool (like a 40-hour Blender masterclass) you want to own forever.
